Sponsorship

One of the areas of fund raising that has the potential to sustain income and therefore our continued support of the young people we care about is sponsorship, and it occurred to me to look up the definition of the words sponsor/sponsorship in a well known dictionary.

This is what I found:

“sponsor –

1. a person or group that promotes another person or group in an activity or the activity itself, either for profit or for charity.

2. Chiefly US & Canada a person or firm that pays the costs of a radio or television programme in return for advertising time.

3. a person who presents and supports a proposal or suggestion

4. a person who makes certain promises on behalf of a person being baptised and takes responsibility for his Christian upbringing

5. to act as a sponsor for (someone or something) (Latin spondere to promise solemnly).

Its all quite straightforward isn’t it? But what does it really mean to us at Building Brighter Futures?

It means food in their bellies, clean water, education, health and welfare, medication, a roof over their heads and a bed to sleep on. It means they know they are cared for and we care about them. It means they have respect and self-respect. It means they will develop into confident and more caring adults and that maybe they will, in turn, help other young people as they were helped. In short, it means they HAVE A FUTURE.

At BBF we know we cannot help everyone but one thing we are sure of and that is we can make a positive difference to just a few lives and what’s more because of our direct involvement we can see the results and share them with their sponsors.

It is difficult to put sponsorship into perspective but just £5 a month can provide most of what I mentioned above and our guarantee at BBF is that every penny of sponsorship will reach the end user, none going on administration.

I hope that because you have shown interest in BBF by visiting our website that you will now take your interest a step further by filling in one of our sponsorship forms. Do it now and make a difference to a young life – it is a great feeling!
